May 16, 2019 – DELSON – Jean-Claude Poissant, Member of Parliament for La Prairie, invites organizations to apply for funding for projects designed to promote the health and well-being of seniors under the New Horizons federal program .
The member made the announcement on Thursday on behalf of the Minister of Seniors, the Honorable Filomena Tassi.
Interested organizations have until June 21, 2019 to register. New Horizons for Seniors is a federal grants and contributions program that funds projects to improve the lives of seniors and communities.
Funded community projects offer activities that engage seniors and contribute to at least one of the five objectives of the program: encourage volunteerism, promote mentorship, raise awareness about elder abuse, promote social participation and provide capital assistance.
These organizations can receive up to $ 25,000 in funding and, starting this year, up to $ 5,000 in new small grants for those who have not received funding in the last five years. S
ince 2004, the program has funded more than 23,600 projects in hundreds of Canadian communities, for an overall investment of more than $ 487.7 million from the Government of Canada.
